Radio presenter praises 'magic' of Brazil
Brian Hanrahan has said that Brazil is his "favourite destination" in the world following a recent family holiday in the South American country.
The BBC Radio Four presenter's trip took him all over the vast nation, from the capital Brasilia through the wetlands of Pantanal to an Amazonian jungle lodge.
Speaking to the Telegraph, he described Brazil as a "truly magical country", with a diverse range of experiences on offer for adventurous travellers.
Mr Hanrahan said that Brasilia was "worth seeing for the architecture alone", before detailing his attempt at piranha-fishing and describing encounters with several unusual animals on a nature reserve in Pantanal.
He also visited the coastal resort of Fortaleza, where he enjoyed a traditional Brazilian street carnival.
Recent figures from the Brazilian Institute of Tourism suggest that the country's reputation as an international holiday destination is growing.
Visitor levels from January to September this year increased by 20% on the corresponding period in 2007.
