Retired expats 'advised to plan ahead'
Retirees who are thinking of expatriating to Spain have been advised to plan everything carefully.
According to Shelter Offshore, a growing number of people are looking into the possibility of retiring to another country.
Spain was flagged up as one of the main hotspots among this group, although the website has urged prospective expats to take a number of issues into account before moving.
For example, it recommended that over-50s ensure that they move to a location which offers adequate healthcare provision.
Shelter Offshore said while access to public services may not be the first thing a prospective expat considers, it could well be vital at some point in the future.
"One day down the line it may well become important for you or your spouse," the website commented.
This comes after a study by HSBC rated Spain as one of the best locations for expatriate families to consider.
