Retirees pointed towards Spain
A former British expat has recommended that lifestyle buyers consider setting up home in Spain.
Becky Mahoney has just returned to the UK after spending four years in the European country with her husband.
Speaking to the Bournemouth Echo, she stated that while it offers a very relaxed way of life, this may not be ideal for people who need to work.
However, she said this could make it a perfect destination for older people who wish to live abroad full-time during their retirement.
Ms Mahoney commented: "The biggest problem is that you live in a holiday world for a while.
"But if you're retired then there's no reason why you can't live a fantastic life in the sun."
According to the Institute for Public Policy Research (IPPR), more than three million pensioners will be living abroad by 2050.
IPPR researcher Jill Rutter recently told the Guardian that growing prosperity has fuelled migration from the UK in recent years.
