Rising values attract investors to Calabria
Rising property values in an Italian province are continuing to attract overseas investors, according to a media report.
The Mayo Advertiser cited figures showing that prices in the Calabria region have risen by 40 per cent in the last year, a fact it said had taken the overseas property market "by storm".
Located in the south of Italy, the region was said to have become highly sought-after among investors from both the UK and Ireland.
The newspaper added that one of the most popular attractions of the province as the availability of property close to the sea.
Furthermore, it stated that local planning regulations meant the area would avoid overdevelopment and urban sprawl, allowing it to retain its natural beauty and character.
The Mayo Advertiser commented: "These are a few of the basic reasons why property in the Calabria region has been and still is growing at such a fast pace."
Recently, a Calabria-based educational institution, Piccola Universita Italiana praised the province for offering an "unspoilt" natural landscape.
