Romanian airliner 'sees higher revenues'

The airliner Tarom has stated that a number of new flights have boosted its overall revenues from overseas flights by 25%.

Executive vice president of marketing and sales at the company Sorin Georgescu said that the firm holds a "significant market" share in countries such as Italy and Spain, reports zf.ro.

"The substantial traffic increases were helped by the newly introduced flights. Spain and Italy are two important markets for Tarom," the official added.

It is the largest carrier on the Romanian domestic market and had a turnover of 230 million euros (£156 million) last year, the publication added.

Tarom recently introduced flights from Romania to Bologna, Madrid and Valencia, while traffic on all of its flights - both domestic and foreign - went up by 27%, it said.

Overall this year, it said that it wishes to carry about 1.8 million passengers in total.

Flights between London and Bucharest are also offered by the firm.
