Romanian economy praised by government official
An adviser to the Romanian government has hailed the performance of its economy amid the current financial turmoil.
Rasvan Orasanu told Reuters that the market in the eastern European country is "buoyant" and proving to be highly resilient to external problems.
Indeed, he believes that since the Romanian economy is performing so strongly that it has become very attractive to foreign investors.
"Foreign direct investment remains high," Mr Orasanu commented.
However, he predicted that the current "madness" of property development in Romania could begin to abate sometime next year.
This could prove to be beneficial as it would mean the country adopts a more sustainable, long-term rate of growth.
Romania's strong economic performance was recently highlighted by Homes Overseas magazine, which said it is having a positive impact on its housing market in particular.
The publication said the property sector has been going from "strength to strength" as a result of ongoing economic growth.
