Romanian PM targets sustained economic growth

The Romanian prime minister has targeted sustained and accelerated economic growth as part of a new strategy for the country's National Agency of Fiscal Administration.

Prime minister Calin Popescu-Tariceanu explained that he will be seeking to secure an improvement in salaries and pension income, which could in turn have a beneficial effect on property prices in the region - reflected by recent increased property prices in Bucharest.

The leader revealed that the separation of the political process and economy has been very successful and he also noted that the country's financial regulator should be given more powers to tackle corruption to bring it on a par with other European regulators.

"I further want this government to identify itself with some essential things for future Romania: sustained economic growth, accelerated, and with an increase in the incomes of employees and pensioners," remarked Mr Popescu-Tariceanu.

The current Romanian prime minister started his career as and engineer and is able to speak both English and French fluently.
