Romanian tourists 'visiting Turkey'
Turkey is strongly benefiting from an influx of Romanian holidaymakers, according to new figures.
The National Association of Travel Agencies (NATA) in Romania stated that during the summer, 700,000 people chose to go abroad for their holidays, reports Ziarul Financiar.
Figures showed that Turkey attracted 80,000 Romanian holidaymakers between May and September, making it the fastest-growing market among this demographic.
Established European markets such as France and Italy were also found to be highly popular, while 35,000 Romanians chose to visit Spain.
Greece and Bulgaria were said to be other favourites, while NATA predicted a future upturn of interest in more exotic locations outside of Europe.
The organisation added that Romanian tourists spent about half a billion euros while on their holidays.
Turkey's popularity among people of different nationalities could potentially add to its status as an investment hotspot.
According to the Financial Times, the country offers good investment opportunities because of its fast-growing property market.
