Ryanair announces major expansion

Overseas property investors across Europe are set to benefit from a major airline expansion.

Low-cost airline Ryanair has announced that it will launch 50 new routes across the continent during 2008 to countries such as Spain, Italy and France.

The new flights will depart from a number of different airports across the UK, including Birmingham, Edinburgh, Liverpool and Manchester.

Meanwhile, additional services from Durham Tees Valley, London and Newquay will also be launched.

This represents a major improvement to the accessibility of mainland Europe from the UK regions and could boost tourism across the continent.

In addition, the influx of extra people to these countries could make them more attractive markets to overseas property buyers.

Commenting on the move, chief executive Michael O'Leary said: "Next year almost 60 million passengers will enjoy Ryanair's guaranteed lowest fares across Europe."

This follows a recent announcement from the carrier that it would expand its range of services from Edinburgh Airport.

The Scottish portal described it as "fantastic news" for passengers and the city itself.
