Ryanair opens up mainland Europe
Low-cost airline Ryanair has begun rolling out its extra services between the UK and mainland Europe.
The carrier is currently in the process of introducing 20 new routes from Birmingham Airport, including flights to Spain, Italy and France.
This week, Ryanair has introduced the first of these - a direct service to Barcelona Girona Airport.
Flights to places including Trapani, Marseille, Porto and Pisa are also being added to its timetables as part of its expansion at Birmingham.
This represents a further improvement to the accessibility of these locations to consumers in the West Midlands, including prospective tourists and property buyers.
Commenting on the new flights, Birmingham Airport's John Morris said: "The launch of these brand new routes offers increasing choice for passengers."
Ryanair has stated that it is aiming to have 8 million people flying on its Girona routes every year by 2012.
