Ryanair to launch new flights
Low-cost airline Ryanair has announced that it is to launch a raft of new services from Birmingham.
The carrier will begin operating additional flights to destinations across Europe throughout the year, to places including Portugal, France and Italy.
This should significantly boost of the accessibility of these countries to people living in the West Midlands region, potentially enhancing their appeal as holiday destinations as a result.
Furthermore, the improved transport links may also make them more attractive locations for foreign property buyers to consider, especially if the flights have a positive impact on tourism.
Commenting on the forthcoming services, Ryanair chief executive Michael O'Leary said they would allow local consumers to save millions of pounds overall.
He added: "Direct international routes are fundamental to the economic development of a city like Birmingham."
This comes shortly after Ryanair revealed that it transported more than 49 million passengers last year.
