SA aims to pull in extra tourists

South Africa is planning to boost the number of tourists heading to its shores with a new marketing campaign in neighbouring Kenya.

A number of shows featuring music and dancing will take place in Kenya over the next few weeks, as tourist authorities seek to increase visitor numbers making the trip between the two African nations, reports Angola Press.

Hulisani Thabela, the trade relations manager for the head office of South Africa Tourism, said that the two counties could work together effectively to continue to share tourists, while still remaining a big hit among European visitors.

"Not only do both of our countries have much to offer the international visitor, we also have a great deal to offer each other," remarked the official.

South Africa is also anticipating a tourism boost in 2010, when the nation will play host to the world's largest football tournament, the World Cup.

It will be the first time that the showpiece event will be held in Africa, with games taking place in Johannesburg, Pretoria, Cape Town and Durban, among others.
