Skiing destinations popular at Christmas

Investors could benefit from the popularity of skiing destinations this Christmas, it has emerged.

According to easyJet, some 2.5 million passengers are forecast to travel abroad this season with the airliner offering 72 routes to European destinations with ski slopes close by.

Increased tourism and ease of access could serve to help investors make substantial returns on rental properties.

Favoured destinations among British winter sports enthusiasts include Geneva, Grenoble, Turin and Munich, the airliner reports.

It is providing 12 routes from UK airports to Geneva this season with popular nearby resorts including Gstaad in Switzerland, Courmayeur in Italy and both Chamonix and Morzine in France.

However, budget airline prices could also attract travellers to a range of new destinations with easyJet noting an expansion of routes to Innsbruck, Sofia and Zurich to its network.

According to a Kayak.co.uk survey reported by Internet Travel News, 75% of Britons are considering a foreign holiday at Christmas this year.
