Southern Italy tipped to be investment hotspot
Southern Italy is likely to be a major hotspot for foreign property buyers in the next few years, according to industry experts.
The International Property Investment Network said provinces such as Calabria have the potential to become some of the most popular locations in Europe.
Bernardo Retana, director of the organisation, said the region will "inevitably" become a leading destination within the next decade.
However, he stated that it is unlikely to become overdeveloped because local authorities have strict planning building controls in place.
As a result, Calabria could offer both lifestyle attractions and a sustainable, long-term investment.
Mr Retana commented: "I do believe Calabria will follow the footsteps of other Mediterranean success stories, but retain its natural beauty and high demand for property."
According to the Telegraph, the province is becoming an appealing option because of its relatively low property prices, as some areas had fully furnished properties on the market for about £60,000.
