Spain builds ties with Morocco

A Spanish airline is set to open up new routes to Morocco later this week, it has been reported.

According to the Maghreb Arab Press, Air Nostrum will offer direct passage to the north African country from Barcelona and Malaga on Friday.

This means that business and leisure travellers in the Spanish cities will be able to fly to Casablanca and Tangier at an affordable price.

Commenting on the move, Air Nostrum said the new routes form part of a wider strategy to develop stronger links between Morocco and Spain.

The carrier stated that it is committed to helping both nations engage in mutual trade, tourism and cultural exchanges.

Authorities in Spain and Morocco are already debating the possibility of building a tunnel between the two countries.

The proposed structure has been tipped for construction under the Gibraltar Strait and will be used as a direct rail link.
