Spain continues to attract tourists

Owners of rental accommodation in Spain are continuing to benefit from an influx of holidaymakers, new figures have revealed.

According to official data, 26.6 million foreign leisure travellers visited the European country during the first half of the year.

This is 2.6% higher than the amount recorded between January and June 2007, reports Euroresidentes.

The figures will be welcome reading for overseas property buyers who have invested in the Spanish buy-to-let sector, as it means demand for their services is on the increase.

More than a quarter of visitors were found to hail from the UK - 1% more than last year.

Spain was also said to be attracting a large number of holidaymakers from places such as Germany, France and Italy.

According to the Association of British Travel Agents, Spain is currently the most popular foreign destination among tourists from the UK.
