Spain diet 'should be world treasure'
The government in Spain has launched a bid to get the Mediterranean cuisine put on the United Nations (U.N) list of world treasures, according to reports.
In news that may be of interest to potential property investors, officials in Spain are trying to win European support for the drive, reports Homes Worldwide.
If the proposals are successful, then the Spanish diet will be placed on the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (Unesco) list of world treasures, the publication stated.
Additionally, it argued that the diet in Spain offers a healthy backdrop to living in the country.
The country said that it has a great cultural heritage, which ought to be recognised by the body when it brings an updated list out later in the year.
Spain has already received backing from Portugal, Homes Worldwide also commented.
Earlier this week, advice for potential property investors was released by The Foreign and Commonwealth Office, including tips on getting to know the local culture.
