Spain 'is a lifestyle destination'

Investors in Spain are largely interested in improving their quality of life, according to a media report.

UK newspaper the Telegraph stated that since Spain was an established market, it was not generally seen as a place to make "a fortune overnight".

The publication said that it was more widely seen as a "lifestyle destination", as people were attracted by factors such as the good weather and ease of accessibility.

Spain was described as the most popular place for British investors, accounting for one in three of all property purchases overseas.

The Telegraph commented: "Spain still offers the enduring attractions of an appealing climate, cheap flights, great quality of life and widely-spoken English."

However, the newspaper said that the market was not a homogenous whole, as some areas were already established while others were only just beginning to attract interest from foreign investors.

According to figures from Knight Frank, property prices in Spain have increased by 5% in the last year.
