Spain opened up by airline
An airline has announced that it is to launch a number of new services between the UK and Spain.
Monarch Airlines will begin operating the extra flights from London Gatwick later in the year.
Destinations such as Alicante and Malaga will be among the destinations which benefit from addition services, along with Murcia and the Canary Islands.
Extra flights to Cyprus and Portugal will also be added to its timetables as part of this latest expansion.
Commenting on the move, Liz Savage of Monarch Airlines said: "By maintaining our strong position on our core routes, we are ideally positioned to meet the needs of our passengers."
The development will be welcomed by tourist officials in Spain, as the country's holiday sector is currently experiencing growth.
According to official data cited by Reuters, about 4.4 million leisure travellers visited the European country last month.
This is 7.4% up on the amount recorded 12 months earlier.
