Spain recommended by romantic Britons
Spain could be the best destination for couples to visit this Valentine's Day, new research has revealed.
A poll by Teletext Holidays found that Barcelona was widely considered as the most romantic city in the world by 46 per cent of those polled.
Madrid also made it into the top 5, with 27 per cent citing it as a favourite location.
However, the study also revealed that more than one in three respondents believed they could come to blows if they visited Paris.
This has prompted the organisation to recommend that people try to minimise the chances of falling out by being fully prepared ahead of their trip.
Matt Cheevers, managing director of Teletext Holidays, commented: "The key to a successful romantic trip is preparation - spend time online researching your trip before you go away."
The poll comes after official figures revealed that Spain attracted 59.2 million tourists last year, including 16.3 million Britons.
