Spain 'set for Scottish tourist boom'
An air carrier has predicted an increase in the number of Scottish people taking holidays in Spain.
Clickair stated that its plans to expand into Scotland were likely to lead to a dramatic rise in the number of people flying out to the country, potentially boosting its overseas property market.
Alex Cruz, founder of the airline, told Scotland on Sunday that it would soon launch flights from Edinburgh Airport and was planning to introduce services from Glasgow as well.
This comes after trial flights were introduced by the carrier during the summer, which Mr Cruz said attracted a "great response".
Meanwhile, VisitScotland is investing in a major marketing campaign to encourage links between the two countries.
Up to £500,000 is being spent on the drive to market both countries, a move that could also open up new opportunities for investors in Spanish property.
Recently, Portuguese tourist authorities announced that they were to collaborate with their counterparts in Spain in a joint-publicity campaign in order to attract more holidaymakers to both countries.
