Spain to benefit from transport improvements

Second home owners in Spain could soon find it easier to travel across the country, according to a media outlet.

The Telegraph stated that although travelling to Spain from the UK was easier and cheaper than it had ever been before, further transport improvements were still upcoming.

Specifically, it said a new high-speed rail link would be introduced between major Spanish cities such as Madrid and Barcelona.

The new train service will also extend to other places in mainland Europe and should be operational by March.

This means that Spain could conceivably be reached by train from the UK if people go to France by Eurostar and take a connecting rail link from there.

Commenting on the move, the Telegraph said: "Better rail and domestic services mean it is now much easier to explore the far reaches of Spain."

According to official figures, Spain attracted 59.2 million foreign holidaymakers during 2007.
