Spain's holiday sector set to grow

Spain's tourist industry is likely to experience further growth this year, experts have predicted.

According to industry group Exceltur, the country is set to attract more than 60 million foreign visitors during 2008, reports Reuters.

The forecast was made after figures from the organisation revealed that 59.7 million holidaymakers visited Spain in 2007 - 2.2% more than during the previous year.

Jose Luis Zoreda, executive vice president of Exceltur, commented: "For 2008, we expect 60.7 million tourists in Spain."

He added that that sun and beach holidays accounted for almost three-quarters of the country's tourism income during 2007.

The figures will prove to be particularly good news for people who have invested in a Spanish buy-to-let property, as it means their services will be in greater demand from holidaymakers.

According to currency specialist HiFX, Spain is still one of the most popular destinations among overseas property buyers from the UK.
