Spanish airport set to handle more passengers

Spain is set to receive a new influx of visitors over the next few years due to the expansion of an international airport.

Officials at the portal in Jerez believe that the number of passengers passing through the facility will double as a result of major investment, reports the Typically Spanish website.

One of the airport's runways is being extended as part of the improvements, while the number of check-in desks will increase by more than a third.

Furthermore, the facility's operating hours will also be extended, thereby allowing it to handle more services.

It is believed that this could lead to the number of passengers arriving at Jerez Airport rising from two million to four million by 2012.

This would be likely to benefit different groups of people, such as tourists, business travellers and investors in the Spanish property market.

The country was recently named as the most popular overseas investment market among Britons in a study by NatWest.
