Spanish market 'contains bargains'
Investors looking to pick up overseas property at a reduced price have been advised to consider buying in Spain.
In an article for countrylife.co.uk, John Howell from the International Law Partnership selected Spain as one of his top ten investment destinations for 2009.
According to the website, the Spanish property sector now contains "spectacular bargains" following the recent market turmoil.
The country's status as an established market for overseas homes will also help matters once its economic recovery gains momentum, the property portal suggests.
It states: "Despite recent problems, Spain will always be the nearest destination where you can guarantee good weather for most of the year and the infrastructure can support large numbers of British retirees."
Asked to give some advice for prospective investors, Mr Howell told the website: "Take advice, think carefully about the reason behind the purchase and make sure you buy the right property at the right price and at the right time."
Martin Dell of Spanish property portal Kyero.com recently told Homes Worldwide that Spain is currently a buyers' market, with some agents lowering their asking prices by up to 30%.
