Sportsman invests in foreign property markets
Boxing star Joe Calzaghe has decided to become an overseas property investor, it has been reported.
The Welsh sportsman told the Western Mail that he had been inspired to purchase a home abroad after watching a property show on television.
Speaking to the newspaper, he said he then bought a few specialist magazines and consulted with experts before buying a number of houses in places such as Turkey and Bulgaria.
Calzaghe commented: "I'm more into sunshine than skiing so I will go out to the place in Turkey more regularly."
However, he said his Bulgarian property - located in the ski resort of Bansko - was likely to earn him good rental income.
The boxer added that he wanted to concentrate on building up his property portfolio after he had retired.
Calzaghe was recently named BBC Sports Personality of the Year in recognition of his professional achievements.
