Strong euro not putting tourists off Europe
Established holiday destinations in Europe are not suffering as a result of the strong euro, it has been claimed.
Online travel agency Freedom Direct said that although the pound is now at a record low against the currency, there has been no marked difference in the number of bookings to places such as Spain.
According to the company, holidaymakers are instead being more savvy and searching for the most favourable deals.
Nick Jackson, spokesperson for Freedom Direct, commented: "All the talk of economic troubles has not affected people's decision to take holidays."
He added that the number of people choosing to travel abroad is increasing every year.
Mr Jackson believes this trend will continue even amid the ongoing turmoil in the global economy.
This comes soon after the Post Office reassured holidaymakers that although the pound is at a record low against the euro, Spain is actually the cheapest of all the countries in the eurozone.
