Survey: Vast majority of investors are confident about investing in Turkey

The vast majority of investors in Turkey are confident about the potential of the markets and economy, according to the findings of a new survey.

The American Business Forum In Turkey (ABFT) and research company GfK Turkiye revealed in a poll of executives that 84% are in the belief that they were right to invest in Turkey, with a further 88% claiming that their companies will continue to expand in the country.

However, businessmen expressed an opinion that taxes on business and individuals could be reformed, while some reported difficulties in trying to employ foreigners in the country, the Journal of Turkish Weekly reports.

Explaining some of the attractions of investment in Turkey, the publication stated: "There is good human capital and some other advantages, such as membership to the European Customs Union and some movement toward harmonisation with EU standards."

The survey also revealed that more than three-quarters of investors believe that inflation is under control, while 88% said they would recommend investing Turkey to other companies.

Turkey is currently undergoing a series of extensive reforms to its financial services industry to help bring the investment economy more in line with European standards.
