Threadneedle predicts investment property growth in 2010
International financial analyst Threadneedle believes the investment property sector will experience growth in 2010 especially in developing economies.
Speaking to Every Investor on the future of off-plan property investments, the firm's chief investment officer Sarah Arkle said: "Yields at current levels make property an attractive option for income seekers and we do not see this changing in 2010.
"Over the longer term, income is the main driver of property returns and, with interest rates staying low, it is income that will attract investors to the asset class."
She added that countries that will perform particularly well in the New Year include Brazil, Chile, China and Turkey.
Arkle noted that these economies have healthy financial systems and low levels of consumer debt, which will help them to make a rapid recovery when the upturn comes.
"We believe we're at the beginning of an extended credit cycle in emerging markets," she concluded.
Her announcement follows Firstrung's claim that off-plan properties provide an excellent investment opportunity for first-time buyers.
