Tourists 'not changing travel plans'

Leisure travellers from the UK are not planning to alter their travel plans, according to a new poll.

A study by eDigitalResearch revealed that nearly three-quarters of British consumers still intend to spend at least a week abroad later this year.

This is despite the fact that many are currently dealing with a number of financial constraints, such as rising food and fuel prices and the weakening pound.

Commenting on the findings, Michelle Fuller of eDigitalResearch said they show that people are not letting economic problems ruin their free time.

She observed: "People appear to be nonchalant when it comes to economic and environmental concerns, opting not to give up what they consider to be their well-earned holidays.”

Ms Fuller added that a growing number of people are booking their trips abroad via the internet.

This comes after NuBricks.com stated that the credit crunch is not putting people off travelling abroad, despite the "doom and gloom" in the media.
