Turkey attracts British property buyers
The popularity of Turkey among British property buyers went up significantly last year, according to new research.
Figures from Moneycorp showed that it saw a three-fold increase in the amount of interest in the country in 2007.
Established holiday destinations were found to be major hotspots for buyers from the UK, including Bodrum, Antalya and Istanbul.
This is despite the impact of ongoing economic crises across the world, such as the global credit crunch.
Marc Morley-Freer, spokesperson for Moneycorp, commented: "We are still receiving a high level of enquiries relating to buying property in emerging markets like Turkey."
The relative affordability of Turkey was flagged up as one of its most attractive qualities, as properties in the country tend to be much cheaper than those in more established European markets.
This comes after Homes Worldwide predicted that Antalya will soon attract more buyers as a result of recent accessibility improvements.
Earlier this month, British Airways launched a direct service between London Gatwick and Antalya International Airport.
