Turkey 'attracts more foreign visitors'
Official figures have revealed an increase in the number of foreign arrivals in Turkey this year.
According to the Turkish Statistics Institute (TSI), there was a 25.6% surge in visitor numbers during the year to October 2007, reports the Reuters news agency.
A total of 2.15 million foreign nationals arrived in the country last month, while a figure of 21.1 million was recorded for the first ten months of the year.
This is 18.3% higher than the number recorded during the corresponding period of 2006
Figures also showed that income from the tourism sector had also increased throughout the last 12 months by 8.6%.
This means that the tourist industry is continuing to benefit the Turkish economy and encourage international interest in the country.
According to the advice website BuyAssociation, this is also one of the reasons for its popularity among second home buyers from other countries.
