Turkey 'could experience property boom'

Turkey may be set to experience a property boom similar to the one seen in Spain 30 years ago, experts have stated.

Property website HomeMove speculated that the growing interest in the country could lead to it seeing considerable growth over the next few years.

The portal said that during the last 12 months, property values have already risen by as much as 20% in some areas.

This increase was partially attributed to recent changes to Turkish law, as foreign property buyers are now able to purchase a mortgage more easily.

HomeMove added that the country had been successful in attracting overseas investors in the last few years, particularly from the UK.

Figures cited by the website showed that about 17,000 Britons now own a residence in Turkey.

This comes after the Foreign Property Buyer website described the European country as a "land of promise" for those who are interested in investing in a residence outside of the UK.
