Turkey 'offers cheaper alternative to Spain'

Overseas investors priced out of the Spanish market have been advised to consider buying in Turkey instead.

Steve and Ann Jackson, a UK-based couple, said they followed the recommendations of friends who suggested they buy a villa in Turkey.

Speaking to the Sunday Mirror, they said they had been considering buying a holiday home in the Spanish Costas, although found it too expensive for them.

Mrs Jackson commented: "We'd never even thought of Turkey but when we got to Kusadasi we found the people really friendly and we loved the lifestyle."

The couple added that they were able to buy a relatively cheap villa close to amenities such as restaurants, pools, markets and a beach.

Mr and Mrs Jackson also praised the scenery and high quality of the building work in the region.

The Turkish government is currently bidding for entry into the European Union.
