Turkey popular with foreign investors
Turkey is attracting more and more interest from foreign property buyers, a media outlet has reported.
Today's Zaman stated that the south-east European country was becoming increasingly popular with various groups, including holiday home owners and investors.
However, it said it was also proving to be an appealing choice for expatriates as well, including older people who want to spend the rest of their lives abroad.
The newspaper cited figures showing that between 2003 and 2007, foreign nationals spent more than £5 billion on Turkish real estate.
Commenting on the country's appeal, Today's Zaman said: "There are many factors that make Turkeys real estate market attractive for foreigners - and the level of investment is still rising."
The publication added that overseas property buyers in Turkey have come from a wide range of countries, including Germany, Belgium, the US, France and the Netherlands.
Dominic Whiting, editor of the Buying in Turkey property guide, recently recommended Bodrum as a good investment spot because of its status as a "mecca" for holidaymakers.
