Turkey sees growth in tourism

Officials in the Turkish tourism sector have reported an increase in the number of early bookings this year.

The Association of Touristic Enterprises in Alanya revealed that during the year to date, there has been a 15% rise in the amount of reservations.

This has prompted it to predict that the overall number of holidaymakers visiting Turkey this year will be up on 2007.

As a result, rental accommodation in popular tourist areas such as Alanya will be likely to see an increase in demand.

Therefore, overseas property investors could be able to take advantage of new investment opportunities across the country.

Gulcin Guner, chairman of the organisation, told Anatolia: "We can observe an increase especially in the number of German tourists."

He added that demand for rental accommodation could outstrip supply if large numbers of holidaymakers choose to book at the last minute.

Meanwhile, Benta Jensen of Scanway Travel has reported that the number of Danish tourists in Turkey is set to go up this year.
