Turkey 'set to become holiday hotspot'
Officials in the holiday industry have revealed that Turkey is set to be a major hotspot for tourists next year.
The Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA) stated that the country was likely to be one of the most popular holiday destinations among Britons during 2008.
According to the organisation, Turkey has already experienced a "resurgence" this year by attracting 87,000 more air passengers.
This has prompted ABTA to predict that this trend will continue throughout the next 12 months.
Speaking to the Western Mail, spokesperson Frances Tuke said: "It is very positive to see that it has achieved this without a big drop in prices, a testament to some of the product quality."
Meanwhile, Turkish newspaper the Today's Zaman has reported that officials in the country are to launch a new marketing campaign next year.
About £60 million will be allocated to promoting its tourist attractions to consumers in places such as Europe and the Middle East.
