Tuscany market 'performing well'

Overseas property buyers have been reassured about the state of the housing market in Tuscany.

According to the Times, the region is holding up "fairly well" in the face of the ongoing economic crisis across the world.

Rupert Fawcett from Knight Frank told the newspaper that this is largely because it mainly attracts lifestyle buyers.

Therefore, people are looking at its long-term prospects and are less concerned about immediate financial worries.

Speaking to the publication, Mr Fawcett said: "We haven't seen a fall-off in the number of Brits - they are still the majority of buyers."

He recommended that people who do plan to sell their property in Tuscany should do so now as the market is still "relatively strong".

Meanwhile, prospective buyers were advised that while they should not expect to "make a killing", there is still scope for flexibility.

Tuscany was recently recommended to foreign property buyers by ShelterOffshore.com, which described the area as "picture postcard perfect".
