UAE celebrates cooperation with EU
Cooperation between the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the EU has been one marked by "truly gigantic achievements" over the last 50 years, according to an official from the UAE government.
In a speech prepared for the UAE deputy prime minister, advisor Zaki Anwar Nusseibeh claims that although the partnership was originally "anchored" by commercial, economic and political reasons, there is now far more to the relationship between the two entities.
Mr Nusseibeh's remarks - reported by Gulf News - come as the 50th anniversary of the Treaty of Rome nears, marking the formation of the European Union.
"These truly gigantic achievements in effect crown decades of close cooperation and friendship between the European Union and the UAE," he stated.
He added that the close ties between the UAE and EU "continue to prosper in the rich cultural exchanges that bind London, Paris and Berlin, to Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah".
According to Sandra Thornber from Business Link, the UAE offers "great rewards UK businesses", with Dubai in particular offering an "extremely pro-business environment".
