UAE investment firm plans $1 billion development in Morocco
Morocco is the subject of a landmark $1 billion investment project from a firm based in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Reem Investments plans to construct a new mixed-use leisure complex outside of Marrakech, featuring 3 hotels, a golf course and various infrastructure improvements designed to facilitate an increase in tourism numbers.
The Middle East Times reports that cultural and entertainment amenities will also be installed, with the entire scheme - entitled the Atlas Garden project - set to employ around 6,500 jobs.
Located 10km outside the city centre, the Atlas Garden complex is scheduled for completion 5 years from now.
Reem Investments is also behind the construction of 3 "world-class" marinas in Abu Dhabi, to be linked with a central canal.
A spokesperson explained: "It is the first time that an island project of this size and scope has been attempted in the UAE."
