UK to share experience with Brazil

A British cabinet minister has expressed his willingness to share the country's experiences of staging major events with Brazil.

The South American country is preparing to host the Fifa World Cup in 2014 and is also bidding to stage the Olympic Games two years later.

Business secretary John Hutton has recently been in Brazil discussing ways of boosting trade with the UK and has offered to help with its preparations for the sporting events.

He commented: "The UK is a leader in hosting world class events, from the development of legacy infrastructure through to the logistics of crowd flow and festival management."

Mr Hutton added that this expertise could help make sure that the Brazil World Cup is a successful event that provides tangible and long-lasting benefits.

Although Brazil has only staged the World Cup once before, it is the most successful participant in the competition, as it has won the trophy an unprecedented 5 times.
