Visitors to Cyprus urged to convert money
Holidaymakers with leftover Cypriot pounds have been advised to get their money converted as soon as they can.
Travel firm Thomas Cook said it would not be accepting the currency beyond the end of the month, which means that tourists should change their outstanding notes and coins ahead of this deadline.
The Mediterranean island adopted the single European currency and has now fully withdrawn the pound from circulation.
However, both Cypriot nationals and people who may be visiting the country in the next few months have been given a limited amount of time during which they can covert leftover money into euros.
Both currencies were in dual-circulation during January in order to facilitate a smooth changeover.
Melanie Whitehouse, director of foreign exchange at Thomas Cook, said: "The adoption of the euro makes it even easier for holidaymakers visiting Cyprus, as they no longer have to be concerned about an unfamiliar currency."
