Website revamp aims to boost Turkish tourism

Efforts to attract more visitors to Turkey have continued with the redesign of an official website.

The country's tourism ministry has revamped the portal to bring it in line with those of other leading holiday destinations such as Spain, reports Today's Zaman.

However, officials said that the new website, available at www.goturkey.com, was more advanced than the Spanish version and those belonging to other countries.

Project manager Turan Mentes commented: "There is not a single website introducing and promoting a country that is as advanced as this one."

Speaking to the newspaper, he said that while developing the new web portal, his team had examined similar sites that promoted a country as a tourist destination.

Prospective visitors to the country will be able to access information on issues such as its history, leisure facilities and events from a single source in four different languages.

Earlier this week, the Turkish Daily News said that German travel agency Mein-Reisespezialist would be promoting the country with a series of promotional videos.

The advertisements will be carried on many of Germany's television stations and potentially boost tourism and investment in Turkey.
