Winter tourists pointed towards Romania

Central and eastern Europe has been flagged up as a good destination for holidaymakers who wish to jet abroad this year.

According to the Post Office, the region offers a number of bargains for people who enjoy winter sports such as skiing.

This is because countries such as Romania are not in the single European currency, which has recently been much stronger than the pound.

As a result, leisure travellers who head outside the eurozone could be able to take advantage of more favourable exchange rates.

This would be beneficial for owners of rental accommodation in Romanian ski resorts, as they may be able to collect healthy returns.

Helen Warburton, head of travel at the Post Office, commented: "Although the pound will not stretch as far for UK skiers as in previous years, there is still good value to be had."

This comes shortly after Skyscanner revealed that a growing number of British consumers are expressing interest in taking a holiday in the European country.
