Wizz Air expands Romanian operations
A budget airline has announced that it is to expand its presence in Romania next year.
Wizz Air stated that as of May 2008, it would open its eighth operating base at the airport in Cluj.
The announcement comes shortly after the firm's decision to cease flying from Tirgu Mures Airport and switch its Transylvanian services to Cluj instead.
Both domestic and international services will be operated at the portal, including flights to London, Bucharest and Rome.
This should prove to be a boost to the accessibility of Romania from the rest of the Europe.
Jozsef Varadi, chief executive of Wizz Air, commented: "Cluj will become [our] second operating base in Romania."
He added that its services were attracting an increasing number of passengers, which he said would enable it to launch even more services in the near future.
This follows last month's launch of flights between London's Stansted Airport and Bucharest by Blue Air.
