World Tourism Organisation official touts Montenegro's 'considerable potential'

An official from the UN's Worth Tourism Organisation (UNTWO) has highlighted the vast potential for Montenegro to become one of the world's top tourist destinations.

Luigi Cabrini, an official for UNTWO Europe, said that while visiting Montenegro, he had a "quality" experience, although he noted that the tourist infrastructure could still be expanded further.

He added that Montenegro needs to brand itself as an attractive - yet relatively undiscovered destination - to achieve maximum allure among tourists, the Visit-Montenegro.com website reports.

The tourist portal quotes Mr Cabrini as having told Vijesti: "The potential of Montenegro - mountain area, natural parks, and coastal region - is there. It just needs to be used in the right way."

He concluded by saying that UNTWO would continue efforts to support the flourishing tourist industry in Montenegro.

Earlier this year, Montenegro's ministry of tourism reported that it expects to see more than 1.1 million tourists visit the country over the course of 2007.
